Every tree carries its history within the grain—growth, stress, movement, and time recorded in wood. Subtle variations, natural splits, and shifting grain patterns are not flaws to be removed, but expressions of the material itself.
At Wabi-Lynn, these characteristics are preserved and revealed through careful craftsmanship. Each piece is shaped to honor the natural form and character already present within the wood.
The result is furniture that feels both grounded in nature and thoughtfully refined by hand.
Furniture
Each Wabi-Lynn furniture piece begins with carefully selected hardwood slabs chosen for their natural character and visual strength. Grain movement, natural edges, and organic forms guide the design process, allowing the material to influence the final composition.
Every piece is crafted individually, resulting in furniture that is sculptural, functional, and entirely unique.
Boards
Originally developed as smaller studies in material and form, Wabi-Lynn cutting and serving boards showcase the same attention to grain, proportion, and craftsmanship found in the larger furniture pieces.
Each board is shaped from solid hardwood and finished with food-safe oils, designed for both everyday use and display.
The Maker
Wabi-Lynn is the work of Christopher Lynn, a New York–based carpenter and furniture maker whose relationship with wood began at an early age.
Coming from a multi-generational background in carpentry, Christopher developed a deep respect for traditional craftsmanship while working alongside his father building homes and structures.
Years later, after becoming a journeyman carpenter in New York City, that foundation evolved into a personal studio practice focused on creating furniture from exceptional hardwood slabs.
Through Wabi-Lynn, the goal is simple: to create pieces that reveal the natural beauty of the material while crafting objects meant to last for generations.
Material & Craft
Wabi-Lynn began when I was furnishing my apartment and discovered live-edge slabs while thrifting for furniture. I came across a section of raw slabs and was immediately drawn to the natural character and movement in the wood.
I started building furniture for myself, experimenting with these slabs and learning how to shape them into functional pieces. Friends and neighbors soon began asking for pieces of their own.
Over time I realized there was both a passion and potential in creating unique, artistic furniture. I began sourcing higher quality slabs and experimenting more seriously with design, which ultimately led to the creation of Wabi-Lynn.
Commissions
Wabi-Lynn accepts a limited number of commissioned furniture pieces each year.
Projects begin with the selection of exceptional hardwood slabs, followed by a collaborative design process that considers scale, function, and the natural character of the material.
Each commissioned piece is crafted individually in the studio and built to become a lasting part of the client’s space.
