Coffee Table No.3 brings together walnut and maple through a flowing epoxy channel that runs the length of the table. The dark richness of walnut contrasts with the lighter tone of maple, creating a composition defined by both color and natural grain movement. Between the two slabs, the epoxy river forms a glass-like divide that emphasizes the organic edges of the wood while introducing a modern material into the composition.
A defining feature of the piece is the intentional use of walnut sapwood along the river’s edge. This lighter band naturally bridges the tonal shift between the deep walnut heartwood and the pale maple, creating a gradual visual transition rather than an abrupt contrast. By positioning the sapwood between the two species, the materials flow into one another in a way that feels organic and balanced—an approach that would later become a recurring design element in Wabi-Lynn work.
The live edges remain intact along the river, preserving the natural contours of the slabs and reinforcing the organic origins of the material. The result is a one-of-a-kind coffee table where natural variation, thoughtful material placement, and contemporary technique come together in a balanced composition.
