Coffe Table No.2 | Walnut Cookie

Coffee Table No.2 is formed from a single walnut cookie, preserving the full cross-section of the tree and the striking history written within its growth rings. From a deep, dark heartwood center, the grain radiates outward in dramatic concentric patterns before transitioning into a broad band of lighter sapwood. This natural contrast highlights the age and structure of the tree, revealing decades of growth in a single surface.

Along one section of the outer rings, the grain curves around an unusual formation where the tree once grew around a piece of lumber that had been nailed to it during its lifetime. Rather than removing this feature, it was intentionally preserved and used as a place for a personal inscription, wood-burned by the owner as part of a commissioned anniversary gift. The result is a rare moment where the history of the tree and the story of the couple intersect in the same material.

Supported by minimalist black hairpin legs, the organic slab appears to float lightly above the floor. The simple base allows the dramatic geometry of the walnut cookie—and the remarkable story embedded within it—to remain the focal point.
